SPM To Update The Edge Asset Management Plan

THE EDGE, one of Auckland’s leading live entertainment, performing arts and convention venue providers, has commissioned SPM to update its 2010 Asset Management Plan (AMP).

SPM has previously conducted condition surveys of The Aotea Centre, The Town Hall and The Civic, and produced the initial AMP in 2008. SPM has recently completed the triennial resurvey of The Aotea Centre and the results will be incorporated into the 2010 AMP.

The AMP will also reflect the analysis of fixed plant and equipment, updated financial information, and scenario modeling using SPM Assets strategic asset management system.

SPM Release SPM Assets Version 6.0
SPM today announces the release of its new web-based SPM Assets software application. SPM Assets replaces SPM Property which is being used by over 25 licensed customers across New Zealand and Australia, including Housing New South Wales; Spotless and seven of the top 10 largest Councils in New Zealand.

SPM Assets has been totally re-designed using a re-engineered database schema that forms the foundation for the future growth and expansion of SPM's suite of software applications, which will continue to provide customers with a rich array of value-added functionality and benefits.

The new application provides customers with a rich array of new features including comprehensive security functions that control access to the software by group and role; new import / export capabilities; new analysis algorithms to support analysis based on remaining life and age/condition and a new Cost Analytics module enabling Asset Managers to undertake targeted investigations on components either before they fail or before their maintenance costs become too significant. In addition, the user interface has been improved and screens re-designed to provide users with improved analytical capabilities.

The application is available on either Oracle or postgresql database platforms.

The next stage in the product evolution is Version 6.1.0 to be released later in 2010 which includes integration with the SPM Projects application; the introduction of user-defined business rules and a new Maintenance Regimes module.

Commenting on the release, Roger Jameson, SPM General Manager - Sales and Marketing said, "Our customers tell us that there is no other asset management planning software application available on the market that provides such sophisticated level of functionality and analysis. This new version provides customers with functionally rich new features to enable them to undertake rigorous analysis and to plan future maintenance programmes more effectively. We are excited about the new version and we are looking forward to migrating all of our customers to the new version in the coming weeks, ensuring they can derive maximum added value from using it."

SPM Software for City of Cockburn

The City of Cockburn in Perth Western Australia has licensed SPM Property to support its preparations in implementing an asset management planning framework.

The project will also involve an extensive building survey programme using SPM Survey; the establishment of an Information Management Strategy and the definition of property quality standards as outlined in the IPWEA NAMS.AU Building Condition and Performance Assessment Guidelines published in July 2009 and written by SPM.

At the completion of the exercise, SPM will produce a comprehensive report summarising the current asset quality, the desired quality, the shortfalls, projects to address the shortfalls compared to existing programmes, and how to continue the process and maintain the data.

Commenting on the project, Steve Lyons, SPM Managing Director said, “This is a vitally important project for SPM. Not only does it cement our presence in Perth with the work we are doing for Spotless at Perth Convention Centre and Edith Cowan University, but it also enables us to provide our complete package of software and services to our first Local Council customer in Australia. We are delighted to be working with the Council on this project and to implement our 7 Point Framework, taking further the guidance we have provided in the NAMS Manuals.”

ACT Housing to access SPM Property

Since June 2007 SPM Property has been successfully used by Spotless Services Australia to support its asset management planning operations as part of its Public Private Partnership contract with Housing and Community Services ACT (HACT).

In an extension to the Spotless SPM Property licence, HACT users will now have access to the application to view component condition information across their entire stock of 11,300 properties; undertake lifecycle analysis; run scenarios and generate a range of reports.

Commenting on the licence extension, Roger Jameson, SPM General Manager - Sales and Marketing said, "Having access to the SPM Property application will provide HACT with enormous value. As SPM Property is a web-based application, it can be used anywhere at anytime, enabling Spotless and HACT to share information effectively on the asset portfolio. More importantly, HACT can generate their own life-cycle analysis models for internal reporting purposes based on the data that Spotless has been collecting on its behalf. We look forward to working with HACT staff and to assisting them when required on the concepts in asset management planning".
