SPM today announces the publication of a Building Practice Note eBook by the National Asset Management Strategy Committee (NAMS.AU) of the Institute of Public Works Engineers Australia (IPWEA).

Written by SPM, the Buildings Practice Note eBook provides guideline principles to enable organisations to effectively carry out condition and performance assessments of their buildings. The publication provides guidance on the establishment of an asset register together with processes for undertaking component condition assessments, determining estimates of remaining useful life, carrying out detailed risk analysis, generating reports, determining work schedules and undertaking financial planning.

The publication of the Building Practice Note eBook follows on from the highly successful NAMS Property Manual published in 2006 by the New Zealand National Asset Management Steering Group where SPM was the primary author.

NAMS.AU provides national leadership and advocacy in the sustainable management of community infrastructure and a library of resources to assist asset management practitioners.

SPM is a member of the NAMS.AU Consultant Supporters Group and is actively working throughout Australia in assisting organisations in implementing best practice principles in asset management planning.
