Unitec select SPM for Business Case Study

Unitec Institute of Technology has selected SPM New Zealand to prepare a business case for the development of its Wairaka (Mt Albert) Campus and extensions to its Waitakere Campus. The business case will reflect Unitec's overall strategic directions and draw on work carried out by a number of architects, designers and urban planners that define options for the development of Unitec's regional network.

SPM will use its team of industry specialists to develop and integrate the information necessary to support the business case proposal. It will use relevant experience from other sectors and its suite of analytical tools and expert systems to develop and evaluate investment options. The information will provide Unitec with confidence to understands what is possible and the knowledge to select the right solution. SPM Property will be used to develop lifecycle models of current facilities and potential future facility options. SPM Projects will be used to understand the strategic capital planning and funding requirements, and the consequences of funding decisions.

David Long, SPM General Manager - New Zealand, said, "We were thrilled to be selected to deliver this important and exciting project for Unitec. The business case will have significant and long term implications for Unitec and for tertiary education generally in the region. Property assets, in particular, make an important contribution to the learning environment and to education outcomes. Helping Unitec to develop sustainable strategies that deliver its long term vision is something that will draw on the full range of our asset management skills and experience".
